The Illawarra Gala Dinner was held in June to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the first volunteer team from the Illawarra community. From 2006 to today, five teams have travelled to Uganda in support of Watoto to build infrastructures, volunteer in schools and come alongside our medical team.
The dinner attracted over 200 attendees from local businesses to supporters from the community, and featured performances by the Watoto Children’s Choir. Watoto Founder, Gary Skinner, also shared the history and direction for Watoto, followed by an appeal for partnership by our local Development & Partnerships Director in Australia.
Generous partners jumped on board to raise funds for Keep a Girl in School, a Living Hope initiative that aims to reduce primary school dropout rates and increase primary school exam completion among adolescent girls. We could not do this work without our partners, so we thank the Illawarra Teams, their communities and supporters for faithfully partnering with Watoto over the past 10 years.
Like the Illawarra Teams, if you would like to partner with Watoto by visiting our projects in Uganda, becoming a regular financial partner or hosting an event in your area, we’d love to hear from you! Please email Adrienne in our Partnerships Team at firstname.lastname@example.org
